Sixty minute financial makeover for 8 Million this weekend
For too long we have been saying tomorrows another day, but now Britons have a new mantra
"Carpe diem" - seize the day! Thirty two million of us say we intend to make good use of the extra hour when the clocks go back this weekend by doing something useful - and eight million of us will be sorting out our finances. As money worries and the need to take extra care of our finances rise up the agenda, it is unsurprising that nearly one in five (19%) of us say we are going to spend the extra hour giving our finances a makeover. In fact for 13% it is their top priority, according to new research from Alliance & Leicester Current Accounts. Although time is an issue for nearly a third (30%) of people, when it comes to changing things in our lives, 40% of Britons plan to take action and sort out their finances for the next year. Three million people intend to switch their current account provider; one in five (20%) plan to clear their overdraft; 14% plan to switch credit cards and 8% plan to re-mortgage. With almost half of Britons planning to change something in terms of their finances over the next year, switching their current account is one of the easiest steps to take - and means their salary could be earning them up to 5.5% credit interest with Alliance & Leicester versus 0.1% with many other banks. Spending the extra hour this weekend sorting out your financial affairs, such as switching current accounts, can make all the difference and could save you money.
